When I recently read an article highlighting a “feel-good” story, it reminded me that, regardless of the circumstances, someone somewhere can make the day special for someone else.
The article’s title is: Kind Students Surprised Their Teacher Who Took the Bus 4 Hours Each Day with New Car, Insurance And 1 Yr. Gas – read it here.
What compassion these students showed for their teacher! It’s the kind of caring exceptional leaders demonstrate every day.
Leadership Tip
Approach your leadership with a “Make it a Special Day for Someone” mindset.
Adopted well, this mindset goes a long way to earning loyalty and respect from your followers. Not surprisingly, it will also improve morale, engagement, and performance.
How many different things can you do to make someone’s day special? It doesn’t have to cost you money to be effective; simply remind yourself to look for opportunities. I promise you, there’s no shortage!
This mindset is discussed in my book Sparks: A Business Fable. An excerpt reads:
Jack was so committed to this simple, but important task, that his electronic day planner was programmed with a “Make It a Special Day for Someone” in the 7:00 am time slot every day of the year.
Take time to listen to the entire book on The Leadership and Learning Podcast, beginning with episode #26. Listen here or on your favorite podcast platform.
Be an exceptional leader and Make it a Special Day for Someone. You’ll feel good, too.
