With the 2022 Winter Olympic Games about to begin, numerous thoughts race through my mind.
Competition – Teamwork – Leadership – Organization – Planning – Costs – Revenues – Coordination –Countries – Volunteers – Security – Time – Preparation – Execution.
Of these, which two items stand out most for me? Preparation and Execution.
Preparing for the Olympic Games is a massive undertaking and so is preparing to be a world-class athlete to even compete in them. To succeed, athletes must do more than prepare, for years of planning and dedicated preparation can quickly be wasted without executing well.
Transfer that thought to your business. How well have you planned and prepared for this new year? How well are you executing your plans?
Leadership Tip
Stop and evaluate how effectively you are executing your business’s strategies and action plans so far in 2022.
Then ask if you are you happy with the results. If you are, give yourself a gold, silver, or bronze medal.
If you aren’t, act now. Poorly executed strategies and actions plans do not get better with time; they get better with adjustments and refinements.
I suggest you act on any shortcomings with a high sense of urgency. If you’re not sure what actions to take, get a different set of eyes to focus on the situation. Having a fresh perspective helps you define what you can do now to execute better for the future.
Still, be careful. Your execution might actually be good, but your strategies and action plans could be flawed. Getting expert advice won’t go to waste when it comes to Preparation and Execution.
