Is it an understatement to say the COVID-19 pandemic is changing the way we live and work? Not at all. I believe it has changed us in many ways and causes us to ask, “What’s next?”
What’s next for you? What do you think your life and business will be like one month, three months, one year from now?
Leadership Tip
Prepare for the changes you’ll make as you adapt to what’s ahead after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Those who know me recognize this approach as Thinkership™- the practice of mindful preparedness.
Mindful preparedness means that the times now, more than ever, call for paying attention to what is going on around you. Then you proactively determine how you’ll prepare for almost any situation that could affect you.
Suggested areas to focus on:
- Pay attention to the trends and information health experts are sharing – prepare.
- Watch for the trends that could affect you personally. Think travel, shopping, food, money, family, and other areas of importance to you – prepare.
- Observe the trends that could impact your business. Think sales, profitability, supply chain, consumer confidence, unemployment, work from home, and more – prepare.
To watch for trends, set a Google Alert for the trend(s) you care about. If you haven’t done this, now is a good time. Simply go to the Google Alert Page and enter the trend you want to monitor.
You’ll start receiving emails from Google with anything new posted to the internet about that trend.

In my latest podcast, I hosted Wendy Minichiello, Engineered Wood Products Sales Director for North America with Weyerhaeuser. She shared her thoughts on what leaders should be thinking during this COVID-19 period and what her industry could look like post-pandemic.
What’s next? Mindfully watch for the trends that affect you, then prepare for them.
