We all need to be very careful … and we can’t let our guard down.
This is about the time of year we are all very busy doing and creativity escapes us.
Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like creativity disappears during the summer. Maybe it’s because we are busy implementing our plans and we’re distracted by a number of different seasonal activities.
My leadership tip for you this week is stay busy with your business but continue to actively seek creative and innovative approaches to the way you do things … don’t let creativity take a summer vacation.
Let’s not forget why we love creativity:
Creativity drives new products
Creativity brings us new processes
Creativity improves quality
Creativity stimulates great thinking
Creativity promotes teamwork
Creativity solves problems
Creativity can save us time
Creativity can make us more money
Creativity makes a great work environment
Creativity can be fun
With all of these positive things going on, why would you give creativity a summer pass?
Let’s keep creativity at work this summer. Here are a few things you can do to keep creativity visible:
Create a short term contest or incentive
Share a relevant article, blog or book on creativity
Share examples of recent creative activities in the marketplace
Seek out and recognize someone for their creative solution / approach
Demonstrate leadership by doing something creative yourself
Or as Albert Einstein once said, “Creativity is contagious, pass it on.”
