Welcome to October.
If you think this year has flown by too fast, then fasten your seat belt and hang on. If the past is any indication, the last quarter of the year will speed by before you know it.
When your personal and business life is moving quickly, it’s not unusual for items to fall short and not get the attention you once intended.
Reflect on the intentions you had at the beginning of this year, then challenge yourself to find ways to accomplish them before the year ends.
Here are a few examples with a suggestion or two to get you going:
You intended to spend more time at the gym, but that didn’t happen. As the weather cools, you can get your exercise outside or in your garage or in your home – so challenge yourself to find ways to get fitter.
You intended to make a few capital investments to improve efficiencies, but that didn’t happen. You can’t invest the capital required to improve efficiencies – so challenge yourself to find different ways to make the improvements you need.
You intended to enhance your professional development, but that didn’t happen. Professional development is available in many formats – so challenge yourself to carve out the time you need to make progress. If you’re not growing as a leader, lack of development will eventually catch up to you.
You intended to strengthen certain relationships, but that didn’t happen. Relationships are incredibly important – so challenge yourself to make them a higher priority.
You intended to spend more quality time with your family, but that didn’t happen. Don’t wait until the holiday season – instead, challenge yourself to spend more family time now and extend that intention well past the holidays.
Completing items on your intention list will give you feelings of accomplishment for this year and allow you to start the new year with fresh plans. But don’t wait too long! You could run out of time.
