Another lesson creeping out of the 2016 Olympic games, is the importance of workplace safety.
We’ve heard about athletes being robbed and / or mugged near the Olympic Village.
We’ve heard about the concerns of all athletes and spectators related to the Zyka virus, the unusual water coloring issues in a closed environment, the toxic water conditions in an open environment.
We know most of the athletes are subjected to potential injury during their competition. We do see spotters during gymnastic events to minimize risk of injury and we see plenty of first aid and medical personnel and equipment close at hand.
All of this brings us to the importance of workplace safety.
2016 Olympic Games Leadership Lesson #8: As a leader you are accountable for ensuring a safe place for people to work. Visit safety issues regularly and frequently, then act on solutions to potential problems.
