Just two days ago, a Phoenix-area
police officer was killed in a crash on a local freeway.
According to Arizona Department of Public Safety, the officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. While standing outside that vehicle, he was hit by a passing vehicle, which then hit the vehicle the officer had stopped.
The driver of the passing vehicle admitted to authorities that he was texting while driving. This is so sad on many fronts-and so unnecessary.
Texting and driving must stop, and you can help end it.
Become an advocate of safe driving. Make it your personal mission
to share the “It Can Wait” message.
Three years ago, I wrote this Leadership Tip on the same topic – It Can Wait.
Since then, I avoid the habit of texting and driving, and I encourage others to do the same whenever I can-one-on-one and in groups at my leadership presentations.
As this recent incident shows, the danger of texting while driving still exists.
